Coptrol use in ornamental ponds
How to Control Algae in Ornamental Fish Ponds and Fountains

Because the water is generally shallow and warm, algae multiply rapidly. Algae looks unslightly and the proliferation may cause blocking and difficulty pumping.

Ornamental systems often include fish and water plants, care should be taken to ensure the following important issues are considered before applying COPTROL when treating systems containing fish.

rci_tiny.gif The water temperature must be 16°C or greater.

rci_tiny.gif Calcium carbonate hardness must be 50ppm (50mg/L)

rci_tiny.gif There must be a method of aerating the water.

Algae and Algal Blooms

There is no easy definition of an alga. Algae are generally microscopic organisms, are generally thought of as simple aquatic plants which do not have roots, stems or leaves and have primitive methods of reproduction.
