How to Control Algae in Water Impoundments,Reservoirs and Dams

Water Impoundment

Before treatment with Coptrol it is necessary to calculate
the volume of the body of water.

Measure the area in square metres and multiply by the
average depth in metres.

Ignore depths greater than 1 metre.

A cubic metre of water contains 1000 litres.

        Note:
1 square metre is approximately equal to 11 square feet
1 million litres of water is approximately equivalent to
220000 imperial gallons, 264000 U.S. gallons.

The preferred application method is to dilute Coptrol 1:10 or 1:20 in water and then to spray evenly over the surface of the water. For best results apply on a calm, sunlit, wind-free day when algae first becomes evident.

Algae and Algal Blooms

There is no easy definition of an alga. Algae are generally microscopic organisms, are generally thought of as simple aquatic plants which do not have roots, stems or leaves and have primitive methods of reproduction.
